Gerry Knights

Mr GREG WARREN (Campbelltown)—The Campbelltown electorate is home to so many dedicated sportspeople, across players, administrators, volunteers and professionals. Gerry Knights is truly one of the best. After more than two decades as the CEO of the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) and the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) Gerry will be moving into retirement. Gerry's influence on sport in our region cannot be understated, both from an administrative and personal point of view. He oversaw the development of thousands of young athletes across a broad range of sports, whilst also being at the helm for a period of significant growth for the SWSAS organisation. Beyond his contributions through the RAS, Gerry served more than 20 years on Campbelltown City Council as the Manager of Healthy Lifestyles, helping to lead community initiatives in the regions of health, recreation and participation. Gerry's own sporting achievements can often go unacknowledged due the weight of his other achievements, but he has also represented his state and country in Masters Hockey, a truly incredible accolade for a man who loves sport like no other. I, and the entire Campbelltown community wish Gerry all the very best in his retirement.
