Mr GREG WARREN (Campbelltown)—It was a privilege to spend time with Imran, Rose, Farahnaz, Farshad, Yousra and Mobina from Campbelltown North Primary School, who bravely shared their refugee stories with myself and other veterans during National Refugee Week. So many of us take for granted the safety and opportunities we enjoy in Australia, and hearing these young people speak about their journeys was a powerful reminder of the resilience and hope carried by families who have made Campbelltown their home. I was joined by fellow veterans from across our defence forces, many of whom served in Afghanistan and other conflict zones, and who know firsthand the realities faced by families forced to flee their homes. Listening to these stories directly from students was deeply moving and, at times, confronting. It gave us a much greater understanding of the hardship these children have already experienced, and the strength they show every day. Thank you to all the students who shared so openly and generously with us. I also want to acknowledge their teacher, Mrs Payne, for her ongoing support and commitment to helping these students feel safe, heard and proud of their stories.
