Construction of Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 is approaching 80 per cent complete, with designs now progressing on Stage 2.

Set to open for motorists later this year, Stage 1 will provide a new four lane connection from Menangle Road over the Hume Motorway to Menangle Park, linking fast-growing neighbourhoods across the Macarthur region.

A new interchange bridge, which has already been lifted into place, will provide access points to and from the Hume Motorway with city-facing on and off ramps.

Through the efforts of almost 300 workers, Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 is nearing completion, with asphalting, landscaping and installation of traffic signals still to come.

Approximately 350,000 cubic metres of fill and 2,000 cubic metres of concrete have been used over the course of construction to bring this vital connection road to life.

As Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 nears completion, planning is well underway for Stage 2.

The NSW Government has committed $15 million from the Urban Roads Fund to progress designs, which will connect Stage 1 in Menangle Park in the East to Liz Kernohan Drive in Spring Farm in the west.

The planned three-kilometre stretch of road will be a vital route linking the growing neighborhoods in the Greater Macarthur area with schools, workplaces and other important community centres.

Feedback from the community has shown strong support for the proposed Stage 2 design, including railway overbridges, access to current and future development sites and shared pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.

This feedback, which will be published in the consultation report, will be used to help shape the next stages of planning through an environmental assessment, concept design and final business case.

Minister for Roads, John Graham said:

“Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 is almost complete, and I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work in building one of South West Sydney’s vital future connection roads.”

“Once both stages are complete, Spring Farm Parkway will create an important east-west link between Menangle Road, the Hume Motorway and Liz Kernohan Drive.”

“We’re getting on with planning for Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2, and we want to thank the community for their feedback on the proposed design.”

Member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren said:

“With Stage 1 ready to open later this year, and with Stage 2 progressing, the community is seeing a government committed to delivering infrastructure that will support residents now and into the future.”

“This project is just one of a wider plan which will link to other upgrades, including Menangle road.”

Member for Camden, Sally Quinnell said:

“The people of Camden have been waiting a long time for this project to be completed. Spring Farm Parkway will be an integral link to the Hume Highway and will help relieve the pressure off Narellan Road.”

“The progress towards completion of Spring Farm Parkway is something I will continue to advocate for, and I’m proud to be a part of a government that delivers the infrastructure to balance our unprecedented growth.”
