Students and staff at Cronulla High School have begun Term 4 with a brand new two-storey building now open for use, as further upgrades progress as part of the Minns Labor Government’s work to rebuild public education and ensure all students have access to high quality school facilities.

The new facility features four additional new classrooms, an administration area, staff spaces, student bathrooms, a forecourt, and a new staff car park.

The new building is part of a larger upgrade project aimed at enhancing educational opportunities at Cronulla High School. Students and staff are already benefiting from a further six new classrooms, a new canteen, new and upgraded staff spaces, bathrooms, a school hall extension, a new library entrance, and improved walkways, after they opened earlier this year.

Renovations within two additional existing buildings are expected to be complete by early 2025. These upgrades will provide more classrooms, storage, staff facilities and bathrooms.

Exciting new facades will also be unveiled early 2025, featuring original artwork by local Aboriginal artist Dennis Golding that will pay homage to local Indigenous heritage.

Parliamentary Secretary for Education Greg Warren said:

“I’m pleased to open the latest new facility for students at Cronulla High School, who are making the most of their sophisticated new school building and enjoying other upgraded spaces.

“The Minns Labor Government is committed to ensuring all families in NSW have access to high quality schools, investing a record $8.9 billion for new and upgraded schools in the 2024-25 Budget.

“I look forward to seeing the positive impact this fantastic upgrade is having on the Cronulla High School community as the next stage of work continues.”

Dr Sarah Kaine MLC said:

"It’s exciting to see this new school building open its doors to students. This facility is more than just a space—it's an investment in our children's education and their future, providing them with the resources they need to succeed."

Principal of Cronulla High School Tony Ibrahim said:

“This will provide our staff with a much-needed improvement to their facilities and will continue to provide our students with a modernised learning environment.

“Feedback from both students and staff about our first new building, which opened earlier this year, has been extremely positive and we are sure this new building will be another magnificent addition.”
